In the hallways, I wrote symphonies; blue
Statuesque memories of clouded color
Surfaced only in staccato dreams
And my face was like a child's
In the room where my father did play
As a boy, and his father's father's youth
Tested wills and battled wits against meter
Lets look back now, at my honored ones
That stand in the sinking sands of time...
We rare creators of melodious journeys,
Never wish to be wiser than the rain
(Or holier than the sun)
Only to be taken further into secret places
To reach through time and emotion
And pull out the chords of the hidden depth
